Nursing 2118
This course introduces the student to nursing care for patients of all ages
with stressors affecting: alterations in mental health and behavior, autoimmune
disorders, neoplasms, endocrine, hepatic, biliary, gastrointestinal,
urinary/renal, hematopoietic functioning. Specific alterations in health
interfering with regulation, nutrition, homeostasis, elimination and adaptive
coping patterns are examined in terms of the nursing process. Clinical
experiences provide opportunities for the application of the nursing process to
the care of the child and adult populations in medical centers, mental health
facilities and other clinical agencies. The student is guided in the
application of management principles in organization and providing acuity needs.
In addition, various outpatient clinical facilities are utilized to augment
clinical laboratory experiences. (Prerequisites: Completion of NUR 1125,
NUR 1128, NUR 122, PSY206, and all science classes.) (Corequisite: NUR 2115).
